PARKS & PLANTERS
Learn More About Our
Community Green Spaces
Right now, Highland Ridge CDC is the owner, manager, or steward of several greenspaces and parks in the Highland Ridge neighborhood and surround area.
Learn more below about these spaces, how you can volunteer to help us maintain these areas, and how you can help us create more spaces like these in our community!
COMMUNITY GREEN SPACES
In 2005, The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy established a park on the corner of Jefferson Ave. (RT 18) and Tyler Ave. HRCDC serves as the official steward for the garden. Each spring we plant the flowers, we maintain through the summer, and in the fall we prepare the garden for winter. If you would like to help, sign up to volunteer!
PARKLETS & GREENSPACE
Similar to our work with Mayor's Park, HRCDC manages a number of other greenspaces and parks throughout the community, including the park at the entrance of our neighborhood, next to our garden on the corner of Forrest Ave and Central Ave. Starting in spring 2018, we'll be recruiting new Greenspace Managers for these areas. Come back soon for more info!
If you're in our neighborhood, especially at the intersection of Lincoln, Locust, and Highland, you'll be able to spot our planter boxes! Did you know you, your family, friends, or business can sponsor and/or maintain these and help keep our community beautiful?
Without the help of volunteers, we would not be able to continually maintain our parks and planters. Click "Volunteer Now" and let us know you'd like to join our garden volunteer listserv and stay informed about our workdays.
